All the forms on this page are residential applications and resources to help you through the development process. Forms may be mailed to 22 Lincoln St. Hampton, VA 23669, emailed, or faxed to 757-728-2445. Please sign and date all forms prior to submitting them.

Please note: Submittal of these forms does not validate the permit. You must have proper approval along with payment before the permit is issued. Payment should be arranged with the Development Services Center and we can be contacted at 757-728-2444.

We accept cash, check, or credit card (MasterCard, Visa, and Discover). Hours of operation are M-F, 8:00AM to 4:30PM, except on holidays. On Wednesdays the office is closed for training from 8AM to 9:30AM.

Re-roofing and re-siding on residential homes no longer requires a building permit in Hampton.

Online Permit Requests

Hampton’s new Online Permit & Inspections Center lets you go online to apply for permits, request inspections, check the status of your inspection request and pay associated fees - 24 hours a day - from any computer or mobile device. You can apply online for the following:

  • Yard Sale
  • Burial
  • New Shed (under 256 sq ft)
  • New Fence
  • Replace Hot Water Tank
  • Replace Furnace
All other work can be applied for online by emailing your application and supporting documents to 22 Lincoln St. Hampton, VA 23669.
