March 16, 2017 - The City of Hampton is looking for pushcart and food truck vendors to take part in a new program designed to provide a unique food and recreational experience at Buckroe Beach. In addition to providing space for food vendors, the city is also looking for retail vendors interested in using one of three commercial “sheds” or “beach huts” that will be available for selling beach-related and locally-made items.
Food and retail vendors interested in answering the “request for proposals” or RFP, are encouraged to go online for more information and to fill out the proposal forms.
Nearly one mile long with an eight-acre park, a bandstand, gazebo, public pier, children’s playground, picnic shelters and free public parking, Buckroe Beach has lifeguards on duty daily from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. from Memorial Day through Labor Day. The popular beach attracts more than 175,000 visitors each year and, during the summer, is home to a host of concerts and other events.
The food vendors and commercial sheds would be part of a pilot program designed to bring a unique and diverse food and shopping experience to the beach.
The closing date to submit a proposal is 4 p.m. on April 4. All questions about the bidding need to be submitted the city’s procurement office by 4:30 p.m. March 17. For more information on the request for proposals, contact Procurement Officer Lin Whitley at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 757-727-2200.
