WWI: A Soldier’s Life Family Event - May 13, 10 am-2 pm

SQUARE in the trench 2

Learn about life during the “Great War” with living history reenactors portraying the men of Company F. 318th Infantry Regiment 80th Division American Expeditionary Force 1918. Hear what confronted young Americans as they left home, family and country to fight in what is often called the first modern war. See and handle reproduction military equipment of the time and try your hand at some soldiering skills. Participate in gas mask drills and learn how soldiers would protect themselves from chemical weapons.  Pose for a picture and learn about the importance of photography for the soldiers on their way to  Europe and their families back at home.  Enjoy hands-on activities and help create a model of the trenches that were home to many soldiers during the war.

Family activities are free and take place in the museum's Great Hall and courtyard. Gallery admission is a special $3 on 2nd Saturdays.
