Oct. 9, 2017 - Two Hampton businesses were recently recognized by Gov. Terry McAuliffe for their ongoing commitment to creating employment opportunities for Virginia’s military veterans.
BlueForce Inc., a global professional services firm serving the federal government, and Top Guard Security, a private security company, both earned Governor’s Awards, based on their total number of annual veteran hires.
The Virginia Values Veterans, a Virginia Department of Veterans Services program, presented awards during the 2017 Virginia Workforce Conference, hosted by the Virginia Chamber Foundation at the Greater Richmond Convention Center.
Governor McAuliffe presented 15 awards in 11 categories during the 5th Annual V3 Awards Luncheon.
“Virginia is home to one of the largest veteran populations and boasts more veterans per capita in our labor force than in any other state in America,” said McAuliffe, according to a news release. “We each have the responsibility to serve these veterans just as they have served us, and I’m proud that we’ve been able to do that effectively through the Virginia Values Veterans program
More than 700 businesses, government agencies and educational institutions have been certified under the V3 program and have hired 26,852 veterans since 2012.
