For The Record: Hampton getting national attention for history, future

For_The_Record_National_Notice

Nov. 29, 2017 - Hampton was the setting for the nationally acclaimed book and movie “Hidden Figures,” the story of Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughn, Mary Jackson, and other African-American female mathematicians who helped NASA get to the moon. And Hampton continues to get national attention. For the record, we were named:

  • one of 15 under-the-radar cities you need to visit;
  • one of six “underrated beer towns that deserve to be on your radar”;
  • one of seven finalists for the Innovations in Government Awards; and
  •  fifth among 140 mid-size cities for diversity

These are just some of the reasons our future’s so bright.
