Adults and children alike are encouraged to come watch the movie "Marshall," starring Chadwick Boseman, at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20, at Hampton's Main Library, 4207 Victoria Blvd. The movie tells the story of a young Thurgood Marshall when he was a crusading lawyer for the NAACP. Marshall later went on to become the first black justice on the U.S. Supreme Court. Register by calling 311 or 727-8311 (from cellphones and phones outside Hampton). The screening is part of the free "Movie Talks" program sponsored by the Citizens' Unity Commission and Hampton Public Library System. The goal is to get residents talking about diversity, unity and inclusion, using movies to spark the discussion. Admission, popcorn and drinks are all free.

The Community Appearance, Pride and Image /Grant Review Committee meets monthly to work on the following: Goal: Maintain and enhance neighborhood appearance, quality and pride. Strategies: • Neighborhood clean-ups & city-wide beautification efforts • Partnerships with local companies to be “community sponsors” • Distribution of the Neighborhood Development Funds • City policies that improve neighborhood appearance and quality of life • Other Roles - Safe & Clean Initiative, Neighborhood Improvement Fund Policies, Neighborhood planning support In addition, the CAPI / Grant Review Committee meets at least quarterly to review and approve grant applications submitted to the Neighborhood Commission.
