Hurricane Response Phase Remarks
Green Button Normal Operations  
Orange Button HURCON 4 Alert Phase: Destructive winds of 50 knots or greater are possible within 72 hours or when the storm enters within an 800 nautical mile radius of Langley, AFB.
Red Button HURCON 3 Preparation Phase Destructive winds of 50 knots or greater are possible within 48 hours.
Aircraft and non-essential personnel may be ordered to evacuate during HURCON 3.
Red Button HURCON 2 Final Preparation Phase Destructive winds of 50 knots or greater are possible within 24 hours.
Personnel evacuation may be also ordered during HURCON 2.
Red Button HURCON 1 Secure Phase Destructive winds of 50 knots or greater are possible within 12 hours.
Red Button Recovery Phase Actions taken to reestablish primary mission capability and return Langley Air Force Base to normal operations.

Orange Button WHISKEY Hurricane force winds are predicted to arrive at the Virginia Capes within 72 hours.
Red Button X-RAY Hurricane force winds are predicted to arrive at the Virginia Capes within 48 hours.
Red Button YANKEE Hurricane force winds are predicted to arrive at the Virginia Capes within 24 hours.
Red Button ZULU Hurricane force winds are predicted to arrive at the Virginia Capes within 12 hours.
