What is the Foster Grandparent Program? The Peninsula Foster Grandparent Program offers individuals age 55 and older an opportunity to serve as mentors, tutors, and loving caregivers for children with exceptional needs. Our hope is that the personal attention each child receives from our volunteers assists with the self-confidence and self-value needed in order for the child to eventually become a productive citizen of society. Steps In Becoming A Foster Grandparent Be 55 years of age or older Have a genuine love for children Be able to volunteer 20 hours a week Complete an application and schedule an interview Complete orientation training Getting Started FGP Application Qualifying Income Levels Contact Us Useful Links Benefits Tax-free stipend. Monthly limited transportation reimbursement. Limited reimbursement for physicals. Recognition, such as trips, cards, & gifts. Accidental Insurance. Vacation & Sick Leave. Training, speakers & workshops. The opportunity to meet other seniors and help your community.
