For family units with more than four members, add $4,500 for each additional member. All applicants must not exceed the level for New FGP to qualify. Only out-of-pocket medical expenses can be deducted. If a person does not have enough medical expenses deducted, he/she can be accepted to the program however, he/she can not receive the stipend. Medical expenses include co-payments for doctor visits, prescriptions, hospitals, dental bills, cost of eyeglasses or exams, and the cost of health insurance premiums. Foster Grandparents already in the program can have higher income but must have out-of-pocket medical expenses to qualify. For example, a person living alone can have enough medical expenses deducted to reach the $13,000 income level, but cannot exceed $15,698 in total income.
