Sandra K. Caple
Captain, Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department

Captain Caple is a 22-year veteran of the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department (“Department”) where she currently serves as the Women’s Program Officer.  In her position, she is responsible for understanding and addressing unique issues of uniformed women within the Department.  In addition to reporting directly to the Fire Chief, Captain Caple conducts internal and external research to develop and present to Senior Staff to ensure that the Department’s standards are achieved in areas specific to women, such as medical/fitness, training, and employment standards.

In addition to Captain Caple’s tenure with Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department, she has worked for two other fire and rescue departments having a combined service time of over 28 years.  

During her tenure, Captain Caple has attended Cornell University, George Washington University, the National Fire Academy, Boise State University and Northern Virginia Community College.  Her professional affiliations include the International Association of Firefighters, Women in the Fire Service, and Women Chief Fire Officers. 

Captain Caple is a frequent speaker at national conferences throughout the United States.
