Volunteers Needed for Hampton Litter Index August 8th
July 16, 2007 The Hampton Clean City Commission will be conducting its eighth annual Litter Index on Wednesday, August 8th, from 8:30 a.m. to approximately 4:30 p.m. We need six to ten volunteers to help us accomplish this project. The Litter Index is a tool developed by Keep America Beautiful, Inc., that provides a framework for quantifying perceptions of litter in a community. Various areas are evaluated on the amount of visible litter the volunteers see. The scores received in each area influence the Hampton Clean City Commission's programs and educational efforts. Volunteers are trained in the use of the index and then will evaluate areas throughout the city by van. Participants will be treated to lunch and are recognized by the Commission at its annual Volunteer Recognition Event. All participants must carry a driver’s license or other photo identification. Dress is casual. If you are interested in volunteering for the Hampton Litter Index contact the Hampton Clean City Commission by phone at (757) 727-1130, by e-mail at hccc@hampton.gov, or go to our web site volunteer page HERE. |
