Will your neighbors be the next Yard of the Year Award winners? They won’t be unless you nominate them! It’s easy to do!!

To nominate someone in Hampton who has a beautiful yard:

The YARDS Contest is part of the Yards Are Really Distinctive Showplaces Program sponsored by the Hampton Clean City Commission’s Beautification Committee. The purpose of the contest is to recognize Hampton residents who maintain beautiful, environmentally friendly yards.

Partners with the HCCC Beautification Committee in the YARDS Contest are the Woman’s Club of Hampton and Virginia Cooperative Extension’s Hampton Master Gardeners.

Local business sponsorship is provided by Bloxom’s Nursery; Countryside Gardens; McDonald Garden Center; Mercury Mulch; and Suzanne Young, NCMT. The annual Yard of the Year portrait is painted by local artist Rita Honeycutt.

Special appreciation goes to Chris Bartlett, Becky Terrill, and Shirley Boyd, who coordinate the administration of the YARDS Contest.
