Healthy Families Partnership
Healthy Families Partnership was created to ensure that all children were born healthy and entered school ready to learn. A variety of free programs have been designed to help strengthen families and promote school readiness: Welcome Baby and Healthy Start – home visiting services to all new parents providing them with information about child growth and development, parent education classes for parents and their children,Healthy Stages - a child development newsletter, and the Mayors’ Book Club - an early literacy program for Pre-K children through first graders.

Goals include:
  • Enhancing parenting skills and parent-child bonding and interaction
  • Improving family functioning by teaching problem-solving skills, building trusting relationships and improving family support systems
  • Promoting optimal child development and preventive care during early childhood
  • Reducing undesirable health outcomes such as poor immunization rates, child abuse and neglect and repeat teenage pregnancies
