Our Goals

The A+ Academy program strives to achieve an overall improvement in our educational, recreational, and community environment by focusing on these particular goals.

Healthy Neighborhoods
Some neighborhoods in the Hampton community are situated in areas that previously did not provide or support neighborhood venues. With the institution of the A+ Academies, the City is able to establish a central neighborhood point that citizens can rely on. By building trust, community is formed and will continue to develop.

Healthy Families
As hours grow longer and free time slips away, the City of Hampton recognizes that quality family time is hard to come by. The City makes every effort to help parents balance their careers and their families so that each child has a better chance to receive a quality education and a happy home.

Academic Performance
Over the past several years, Hampton City Public Schools have restructured their programs to include the Standards of Learning (SOL). This amount of information is difficult for any child to comprehend in a single school year, and both teachers and parents need help. The A+ Academies works each afternoon, assisting with homework, and providing enrichment opportunities to each student.
