A Safe City

Hampton Police and Hampton University Police work together to keep our city safe: The Hampton University Police and Hampton Police have coordinated to patrol many major events including the Bay Days activities, the Hampton Jazz Festival, holiday activities, the Homecoming Parade, and major University football games.

The Hampton Police Division educates Hampton University students and teachers: The Hampton Police Chief and his staff participate in Parent and Student Orientation programs at HU each fall. In addition, the Hampton Police Division works throughout the year to promote student awareness of local laws and ordinances and police expectations through lectures and distribution of literature during HU events. The Hampton Police Division also educates students and faculty on crime and drug abuse prevention.

The City of Hampton supports Hampton University police officer training: In an effort to provide safety for the entire community, the Police Division provides training for University Police in a number of areas including firearms training, bicycle officer training, criminal investigation, drug enforcement and evidence collection.
