History | Hampton TRIAD | Officers | Activities | Project Lifesaver | Yellow Dot Program

Hampton TRIAD along with its member organizations and supporters participate in several activities to benefit seniors. Each year an Annual Fish Fry is held at the Hampton Senior Center. Proceeds are used to cover registration cost for senior participants who wish to attend the State TRIAD Conference, and to provide funding for projects to benefit seniors.

During 2006, Hampton TRIAD was successful in requesting grant funding to purchase additional units for Project Lifesaver and to begin its own Yellow Dot Program. Each May, in honor of Older Americans Month, Hampton Sheriff's Office, Hampton Parks & Recreation, and Hampton TRIAD sponsor a Senior Citizen's Picnic in Mill Point Park where over 300 seniors were in attendance this year. Peninsula Foster Grandparents, Hampton TRIAD and Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) sponsored the 2nd Annual Martin Luther King Educational & Informational Forum in February of 2006. The forum featured State and local TRIAD representatives, and guest speakers included Congressman Robert "Bobby" Scott, Social Security Administration, Public Affairs Officer, Earl Johnson, and attorney Sandra L. Smith of Oast & Hook, P.C. Subjects for the event ranged from Unity, to Elder Abuse, and information on how to obtain benefits from the Social Security Administration and who qualifies for them. The event was also supported by several local vendors who provide senior services.
