The City of Hampton's Information Technology Director was elected as President of the Virginia Local Government Information Technology Executives (VaLGITE) in September 2013. VaLGITE is the organization of Information Technology leaders in local government in Virginia. This professional community is dedicated to sharing information and addressing issues of importance to local government technology service organizations in the state.
Wythe Exchange Club Firefighter of the Year was awarded to Medic Firefighter Melanie A. Gray for her organization of fund-raiser events for firefighters with medical conditions.
Hampton Division of Fire and Rescue R. Lee Webb Award was awarded to Lieutenant Erik Stauffenberg for attaining EMS Accreditation for the Hampton EMS program.
Digital Cities Survey award winner 5th place nationwide, the 2013 Digital Cities Survey examined how city governments have progressed in adopting and utilizing digital technologies to improve the delivery of services to their citizens.
