About the Complete Count Committee

The Committee was established by City Council in December of 2018 to make sure all Hampton residents are aware of the upcoming Census and how important it is to complete the Census questionnaire. Members represent various groups and agencies, including organizations or places that are historically difficult to count - such as military installations - and neighborhoods that have had low response rates.

Because there are often misconceptions about the Census and how Census data will be used, the Committee can provide accurate information and determine the best ways to engage residents. The Committee also tries to identify areas of concern – parts of the city where computer access is limited, for example – and suggests ways to make sure everyone has access to the Census questionnaire. The Committee does NOT count residents or provide official information to the Census. It is a resource to help the Census reach residents.
