The City of Hampton's Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Plus plan is designed to help frame and direct the equity and inclusion work of the city and its partners in the coming years. What follows is an outline of the strategic commitment and goals, shared language as well as the accountability measures, tracking, and reporting that will bring these goals to life.
The following goals and strategic commitments were adopted by the “One Virginia Plan”.

Achieve a more diverse and inclusive employee base and create a culture of belonging.
Create and sustain an organizational environment that affirms and respects D.E.I and employee inclusive practices throughout its daily operations.
Engage employees in professional development in the learning of varied perspectives of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Create and sustain an agency or departmental infrastructure that effectively supports progress in achieving diversity goals.
Deepen the agency's contribution to improved inclusivity and equity in the communities we serve.
The Hampton Diversity training (HDT) fosters understanding and appreciation for our differences and educates and engages employees in the varied perspectives of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. The Hampton Diversity training is recurring and offered virtually.
