FY22 I Value Campaign

Facebook Live budget chats

FY22 I-value enewsCity Manager Mary Bunting and staff held three Facebook Live chats — on March 18, 22, and 25, 2021 — to answer residents' questions about the city's budget priorities.

There was no online polling this year. Many of the projects residents requested last year were listed in the operating budget, but they were put on hold due to revenue losses caused by Covid-19. Those projects include measures to both fight and prevent crime; activities and programs for young people; expanded workforce development and training; creating an Office of Economic Empowerment & Family Resiliency;  and consolidated enforcement of codes.

Priorities for large capital projects were enhanced school building maintenance; expanded street repaving; a new fire station for Phoebus; increased stormwater maintenance; conversion to LED streetlights; bus stop improvements; and Resilient Hampton projects to reduce flooding.
