Every year, Hampton's Street Division develops a schedule for resurfacing/repaving city streets based on several factors, including:
Cracking and other problems related to traffic loads on the street
Cracking and other problems related to the effects of the environment on the street
The roughness or smoothness of the street
Not All Streets Are the Same
Some streets get more traffic and need to be repaved more often. Other streets are less traveled and may not need to be repaved as often. By looking at their condition over a period of time using sophisticated measuring equipment and in-person visits, city engineers determine which streets need to be repaved first.

If your street is not on the schedule, it probably doesn’t need to be repaved yet. But if you want to report a problem or suggest a street that you think needs attention, contact the Customer Call Center at 311 from your home phone or 757-727-8311 from a cell phone or from outside the city.
