  • Control your child's access to the internet
  • Use a commercial online service that offers parental features
  • Purchase internet blocking software
  • Explore the Internet with your child
  • Communicate the dangers of the internet to your child
  • Stress how important it is that your child not give out his or her personal information (i.e. name and address)
  • Tell your children to never agree to meet anyone face to face that he or she has met online
  • Know your child's friends and their parents. If they have internet access at their home, make sure their parents monitor the computer when children are online
