Mayor's Cup Blood Drive - Go Team Hampton!

Posted on May 29, 2015 at 12:57 PM by Mary Bunting

You may have noticed the Mayor's Cup Blood Drive signs showing up around City Hall this week. I want to thank our excellent team of employees who have been working to make this year's blood drive the most successful yet.

For those of you who don't know me well, I HATE doing videos. I really don't like myself on camera, but when Jason Mitchell and Brianna Venner asked me to go on camera for this worthy cause, I agreed because I truly believe in this very important cause. Please watch this short video where we explain why donating blood is so important. As usual, in addition to the sense of reward you get from donating, there will be door prizes available for those who donate.

I proudly consider our city staff team to be everyday heroes - whether that is a life-saving hero in public safety or a customer service hero who solves a Hampton citizen’s problem. The Red Cross blood drives provide other opportunities for us all to be heroes, by donating blood to help those in our community who need it for a transfusion, emergency or surgery. This time, it’s also the Mayor’s Cup Blood Drive, a friendly competition against other localities. On behalf of Mayor Wallace, I encourage all of you to donate at one three locations available this year.

Thank you in advance for your donation and go TEAM HAMPTON!

Donation dates and location:

Thursday, June 11
City Hall Lobby, 8 a.m.-2 p.m.

Tuesday, June 23
Public Works Operations, 8 a.m.-1 p.m.

Tuesday, June 30
Ruppert Sargent, 8 a.m.-1 p.m.

The blood drives do allow walk-ins but can get busy. Reduce your wait time by scheduling an appointment at redcrossblood.org.  When scheduling use the sponsor code HamptonCity.
