[ARCHIVED] Winter Weather Update

Minor forecast adjustments were made overnight. Rain will continue to push across the area today, and a transition to snow is still anticipated tonight/early Tuesday morning. Snow amounts have been cut back slightly on the high end, but between 2-4" of snow is expected over the Lower Maryland Eastern Shore late tonight Through Tuesday morning, with lesser amounts averaging 1-2 inches across eastern and central Virginia, including the Richmond and Norfolk/Tidewater areas. A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for much of our area for tonight through Tuesday morning. A north to eventually northwest wind of 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph is expected along the Atlantic Coast Tonight through Tuesday night.

Sewells Point could see higher than predicted tides Tuesday – Wednesday morning of 4.25 ft. Hampton to will see little to no tidal flooding at these predicted tide levels.

The Office of Emergency Management will continue to monitor the storm and provide updates, as warranted.
