[ARCHIVED] Volunteer(s) Needed to Transport Cooper ES Plastic Bags

Hampton Plastic Bag Collection

Cooper Elementary School students need your help. The students are collecting plastic bags in a competition to win a recycled plastic bench from Trex. They need one or more volunteers to take the bags they have collected to the nearest Farm Fresh. Contact hccc@hampton.gov to volunteer.

Trex is a company that produces plastic lumber from plastic bags (grocery bags, newspaper bags, and other film plastic). The students are competing against other schools in the city, and the winner is determined by the number of bags collected per student. The greatest limiting factor for all the schools is storage space. Other competing schools could use volunteer help in getting the bags to the nearest Farm Fresh as well.

For example, Lisa Garber has volunteered to collect the bags from Asbury Elementary School, so she stops by monthly to pick them up.

If you would like to help a school transport its plastic bags in support of the students' quest to win that plastic bench, please contact HCCC to be connected with a school that would appreciate your help!
