[ARCHIVED] Public Works continue clearing main roads, preparing for more snow

Feb. 18, 2015 - Public Works crews continue to clear main roads - focusing on turn lanes and business driveways - while preparing for more snow that's expected tonight.

Tyler Richardson, superintendent of streets and bridges, said crews are still working on 12 hour shifts and both supplies and equipment are in good shape. "Manpower is still good," also, Richardson said.

City plows are focused on primary roads, and will soon begin pretreating roads for tonight. Hampton does not have the workers or equipment to plow secondary and residential streets.

According to the National Weather Service in Wakefield, snow showers are likely tonight between 9 p.m . and midnight, with a low around 13 and wind gusts as high as 34 mph. New snow accumulation of less than half an inch is possible.
