[ARCHIVED] June 10 public hearing on proposal to submit Enterprise Zone application

The City of Hampton is proposing to submit an application to designate a portion of the city as an Enterprise Zone. The goal of the Virginia Enterprise Zone Program is to promote economic development through job creation and real property investment by businesses located within a designated Enterprise Zone. There will be a public hearing to hear comments on the proposal on Wednesday, June, 10, 2015 at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers, Eighth Floor, City Hall, 22 Lincoln Street, Hampton, Virginia 23669 to consider the following:

The designation of the Hampton Roads Center Enterprise Zone consists of 2,166.6 acres and is primarily located in the northeast quadrant of the city. The zone boundaries encompass Hampton Roads Center Central, North and South campuses, Langley Research and Development Park, Wythe Creek Industrial Park, WestPark and areas along Magruder Boulevard and Commander Shepard Boulevard, and a portion of the Coliseum Central area.

A map showing the proposed boundary is on display on the Hampton Department of Economic Development website at www.choosehampton.com, or at the department’s office located at 1 Franklin Street, Suite 600, Hampton, Virginia 23669, from 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.
