[ARCHIVED] Hampton native to succeed Wilson as Parks director

Nov. 30, 2015 - Kevin Myers, superintendent of Aquatics in Newport News, will succeed Jim Wilson as Hampton’s director of Parks, Recreation and Leisure Services on Jan. 4, 2016. Wilson retires Jan.1 after 44 years of dedicated service to the city.

Myers has 27 years of experience with parks and recreation in Virginia. He has served as director in Fluvanna County, Goochland County and Powhatan County. He has been aquatics superintendent in Newport News since 2012.

A native of Hampton and graduate of Hampton High School, Myers has as bachelor’s degree in recreation management from Christopher Newport University and a master’s degree in public administration from Central Michigan University.
