[ARCHIVED] City to begin road work in Big Bethel Road area

March 15, 2016 - In the next few days, a contractor for the city will begin repaving work in the Big Bethel Road area. Streets will get "no parking" signs before work begins, and residents are asked to help by clearing posted streets of all cars, boats, and other vehicles from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.

The upcoming work from Todd's Lane to Briarfield Road will take place in two parts. First the old pavement will be removed. Then a new asphalt surface will be installed. Failure to remove vehicles from posted roads may result in vehicles being towed and placed in driveways or the nearest cross road.

If bad weather causes any delays or interruptions, work will resume on the next clear day. Normal work days are Monday through Friday, and property will be accessible except for the short time workers are immediately in front of a home or building.

Residents are asked to use extra caution during construction. Roads may be rough and care should be taken to prevent falling because of exposed edges at the curb, protruding manholes, valve boxes. or loose gravel. Children should be kept away from all construction equipment, including trucks.

For more information, contact the city's Call Center at 3-1-1 or 727-8311.
