[ARCHIVED] Circuit Court, clerk's office, closed May 9-17

May 6, 2016 - Hampton’s Circuit Court building, all court activities, and the clerk of court’s office will be closed May 9-17 while their offices are moved into the new courthouse at King Street and Pembroke Avenue. The new courthouse opens May 18.

Services provided by the clerk’s office, which will be unavailable during the closure, include access to the city’s official records, including land records, deeds, deeds of trust, mortgage satisfactions and power of attorneys.

The clerk’s office also processes notary public commissions, the filing of military discharge papers, and issues concealed handgun permits and marriage licenses.

Marriage licenses in Virginia are not specific to locality; residents of Hampton or couples planning to marry in Hampton can get a license at any other courthouse. Those needing any other services will need to visit the office before May 9 at the Kings Way building or May 18 or later in the new building.
