[ARCHIVED] Memorial Day flag placement and ceremony

May 24, 2016 - A special Memorial Day ceremony will be held at Hampton National Cemetery at 10 a.m. on May 30. A joint military color guard will be on hand with a brass quintet from the U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command and representatives from each branch of the armed services.

The one hour observance is open to the public and will take place rain or shine. The cemetery is next to Hampton University and the ceremony will be at the intersection of Cemetery Road and Marshall Avenue. For more information call 757-723-7104.

Also, the cemetery on Marshall Avenue is looking for volunteers to place and remove flags on the graves on Friday, May 27th (flags In) and Tuesday, May 31st (flags Out). If you wish to volunteer, please contact Wendy N. Thomson, program support assistant, at 757-723-7104 or wendy.thomson@va.gov.
