[ARCHIVED] 2019 Commission holding casting call for play, "Crossing a Deep River," July 9-10

"Crossing a Deep River," a play by Dr. Joanne Braxton, tells the odyssey of Seéwo, an African American writer who seeks her African ancestors lost to recorded history. Through language, music and movement, Seéwo leaves the present, and crosses the Atlantic to the 17th century West African coast.
There is an open casting call Saturday and Sunday, July 9 and 10, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Hampton Performing & Creative Arts Center, 300 Butler Farm Road. The play will be presented Friday, Aug. 17.
