July 22, 2016 - In partnership with the City of Hampton, the Virginia Peninsula Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a black-tie celebration in honor of Langley Air Force Base's 100th Anniversary at the Hampton Roads Convention Center on Saturday, September 17.
This year, Joint Base Langley-Eustis is celebrating the 100th anniversary of the purchase of land for Langley Air Force Base, one of the earliest military bases in America specifically built for air power. Today, Langley is the oldest continually active air force base in the world, and is the oldest airfield in Virginia.
"Joint Base Langley-Eustis is a key contributor to Hampton’s and the region’s economy, as well as our nation’s safety,” said Bruce Sturk, Hampton’s director of federal facilities support. "Just as the base hosted the community this spring for a fabulous air show, we as a community want to show our appreciation for all they do, at a very special community event.”
The evening’s featured speaker will be Gen. Herbert J. "Hawk" Carlisle, commander of Air Combat Command at Langley. Entertainment will be provided by Full Spectrum – The United States Air Force Heritage of America Band.
Tickets are $65 each and can be purchased at VAPeninsulaChamber.com. Corporate sponsorships are also available and will help provide free tickets for members of our military. For more information, please contact Jaime Harris at jaime@vpcc.org or (757) 325-8165.
