June 13, 2017 - OPEN ENROLLMENT FOR HEALTH INSURANCE BEGAN JUNE 12!

It’s time for Open Enrollment for Health Insurance. Anthem BCBS has recommended a 5.4% increase in premiums this year. Both the city and employees will share in the cost of this increase.

The Open Enrollment Memo for all Full Time employees was sent to the mail room yesterday.  Due to new reporting requirements of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) if you do not wish to have coverage through the City of Hampton’s group health insurance plan, you are required to sign the Waiver of Group Health Benefits form, and we will be required to keep that on file.  All of the information and forms about open enrollment can be found at:  (forms will also be available at the briefings)

Please Note: There have been no changes to your health insurance benefits.  Your prescription drug benefits will continue to be provided by OptumRx.  A current drug formulary will be posted to the above listed website soon so you can see which tier your medications are on.

If you wish to make any changes to your health insurance benefits you will need to complete the Health Benefit Election Form as well as the Health Insurance Enrollment Form.  If you are covering a spouse or dependent children, please provide us with the proper documentation for those dependents.  We require a marriage license in order to cover a spouse, and we need a birth certificate, adoption papers, or court-ordered custody papers to cover a dependent child.  

If you are not making any changes to your coverage under the city’s group plan, you do not need to do anything (unless you are waiving coverage).

Open Enrollment Meetings will be held as follows:

Tuesday, June 13, 2017: 3 p.m. – Council Chambers, 8th Floor, City Hall

Friday, June 16, 2017: 9 a.m. – Sargent Administration Building, Veteran’s Conference Room, Side A

Wednesday, June 21, 2017: 10 a.m. – Retiree Briefing – Sargent Administration Building, Veteran’s Conference Room, Side A

11 a.m. – Sargent Administration Building, Veteran’s Conference Room, Side A

For those who cannot attend a briefing, there will be an online employee chat  at noon Monday, June 19.  This is a convenient way for you to ask your open enrollment questions without leaving your desk.

Please Note:  We are not currently in open enrollment for Dental, Vision & Flexible Spending Accounts.  Open enrollment for those benefits will be in November.
