[ARCHIVED] New boards in lobby to improve & organize citizen and employee information

events board

Oct. 13, 2017 - In an attempt to reduce clutter and increase the promotion/visibility of city events, new metal display boards have been installed in the lobby, replacing the older faded bulletin board.

One is marked for public notices, agendas, meetings, etc. It’s where the old one was, on the visitors’ side. Next to it is a display rack that is also for city informational pamphlets, brochures and newsletters. (Since the development services hours/training hours didn’t really fit either of those, it will sit at security near the sign-in sheet.)

To the left of the revolving door is a rack that is for events and attractions.

Inside the elevator area is another board that is for city-sponsored events. That way, it will reach both city employees and visitors. It should give a home to the kind of fliers that have been popping up in the elevator or other places throughout the building.

To the best of our ability, Marketing will maintain these to make sure they are current and attractive. Still, we appreciate any help removing expired items.

We are also working on electronic communications as well. The monitor above security and the one on the employee side will contain city news, information and events. If everyone is putting all public meetings on the city website calendar, we’re hoping to have those scroll so that people who come in for a meeting can quickly see where that meeting will take place. Eventually, the monitors might replace the need for so much paper, but that is yet to be determined.
