[ARCHIVED] 'Youth Violence' will be called Office of Youth, Young Adult Opportunities

Oct. 27, 2017 - The Office of Youth Violence Prevention is now the office of Youth and Young Adult Opportunities. Program Manager Synethia White said the name was changed because the word "violence" has a negative connotation and could unfairly stereotype the people they serve, or keep some young people or their families from using resources provided by the office.

According to a resolution approved by City Council, "the work of the offices continues and has transitioned and grown to include the creation of opportunities for young people up to the age of twenty-four."
