Schools closed Friday; blizzard warning extended to 6 p.m. Thursday

Jan. 4, 2018 - Hampton Public Works crews continued clearing major streets Thursday afternoon, while gusting winds and low temperatures made most driving difficult. Plows are being escorted by city police, and residents are encouraged to stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary.

Hampton City Schools has announced that school is canceled again Friday. A decision on whether city offices will be open or closed is expected Thursday afternoon.

The National Weather Service has extended the blizzard warning for Hampton and the surrounding area to 6 p.m. Thursday, and winds are expected to continue gusting at about 30 mph, with a windchill that can hit zero.
