[ARCHIVED] Snow and ice causing slippery roads; city to delay opening until 11 a.m. Thursday

Jan. 17, 2018 - MESSAGE FROM CITY MANAGER MARY BUNTING: Although the snow came a bit later than expected today, it did clearly arrive. As I write this, the snow continues to fall - in many areas on top of ice that has begun to form. Given evening temperatures will be below freezing, our Emergency Management/Public Safety team are agreed that a delayed opening is appropriate. As of now, our plans are to open non-essential functions at 11 a.m. Liberal leave will be available for non-emergency essential personnel when coordinated with their supervisor/department head.

Please note that we will be assessing conditions all morning. If conditions do not improve sufficiently for us to confidentially feel it is safe to travel into work, we will revisit our decision and close. However, we will not know this until mid-morning. Therefore, please plan to monitor our normal communication channels for any updates.

As always, thanks to our entire snow detail and public safety team for braving the elements on our behalf!
