Jan. 4, 2019 - Hampton City Schools is offering a special free session of adult GED classes for employees of the City of Hampton, as well as their adult family members, a $170 savings. This is good for sessions beginning in January only.

"If you didn't get that high school diploma, this is the perfect chance to get your GED at no cost," said Myra Chambers, director of alternative learning for Hampton City Schools. "A GED can open the door to a better future."

During the enrollment times, candidates take a pre-test to determine which classes are appropriate. Classes typically cost $50 per semester, and the GED tests themselves cost $120; those fees will be waived as well.

Enrollment times are: Mondays Jan. 7 and 14 beginning at 9 a.m. and Tuesdays Jan. 8, 15, 22 and 29 at 5 p.m. No appointment is necessary. The Adult & Alternative Learning Center is located at 1646 Briarfield Road. For more information, call 757-727-1327.
