[ARCHIVED] Residents of 91st House District to vote in primary June 11 – in redrawn district

May 6, 2019 - When Hampton residents go to the polls in November for state House of Delegate elections, almost a third of voters will be in a new district, based on a federal court ruling in January.

Some of those residents will be voting in their new district in a primary for the 91st District on June 11.

Residents whose districts changed were mailed a letter with new voter information in April, said Registrar Tara Morgan.

Voters new to the 91st District include the East Hampton, Jones, Kecoughtan, Smith and Tyler precincts, as well as parts of the City Hall, Thomas, and Hampton Library precincts.

The complete list of precincts involved in the June 11 primary for the 91st District are: Asbury, Booker, Bryan, East Hampton, Jones, Kecoughtan, Langley, Phillips, Phoebus, Smith, Syms and Tyler, as well as parts of the City Hall, Thomas, and Hampton Library precincts.

Two candidates are competing for the Democratic nomination in the 91stDistrict, Martha Mugler and Michael Wade, on June 11. That is the only primary that day in districts that represent Hampton residents.

  • Friday, April 26- In-person absentee voting began
  • Monday, May 20 – 5 p.m. deadline to register to vote or make any changes to voter registration
  • Tuesday, June 4 – 5 p.m. deadline to submit absentee ballot application to request ballot to be mailed
  • Saturday, June 8 – Last day to absentee vote in person at the registrar’s office, open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

All residents are encouraged to check to determine if they are in new districts by going to https://vote.elections.virginia.gov/VoterInformation or calling the Hampton Voter Registrar’s office at 757-727-6218.

Other precincts that were moved into new districts include Bethel and Tucker Capps and parts of the Sandy Bottom precincts, which were previously part of the 95th District. They are now in the 92nd. (Part of Sandy Bottom remains in the 95thprecinct.) Burbank and Machen precincts were previously in the 91st but are now in the 92nd District. See the chart of precincts
