[ARCHIVED] Things to Do & Know! May 29 Edition

Groovin’ by the Bay Litter- Free Event Cleanups, June 2 – September 1, Sundays, 5pm – 8pm, Buckroe Beach Park, 100 S 1st St, Hampton. Need volunteers, one site coordinator and 3 - 4 volunteers for each Sunday evening throughout the summer. Contact Cynthia at cfharris@hampton.gov for more information. Sign up for all the evenings or just one or two! And if you’re a participant in Groovin’ by the Bay, please remember to use the trash cans and properly dispose of cigarette butts!

YARDS Contest Nominations: Do you know of a beautiful yard you think should be Yard of the Month? Nominate your favorite yards at http://bit.ly/YARDSNomination. Recycle Wrong?: Here’s your checklist – DO NOT put these items in your recycling container!

  • plastic bags (take them to a grocery store)
  • coat hangers (donate them to a charity)
  • baby diapers (put them in the GARBAGE)
  • yard waste (bag in clear bags and set at curbside for composting pickup)
