[ARCHIVED] Sign up for the Mayor's Cup Red Cross blood drive June 6 and 27

red cross blood drive

May 15, 2018 — Sign up for the Mayor's Cup Blood Drives, and help the Red Cross fill an urgent need for donations, Thursday, June 6, at City Hall, 22 Lincoln St., 8 a.m.-2 p.m., and Thursday, June 27, at the Ruppert Sargent Building, 1 Franklin St., 8 a.m.-1 p.m.

The Red Cross is asking donors of all blood types to roll up their sleeves and make a difference by sharing a life-saving gift. The need for blood is critical in the Mid-Atlantic region, especially with an increase in visitors on our roads in the spring and summer. Blood supplies are at an all-time low and local hospitals are expecting to schedule their surgeries around the results of this year's blood drive.

If you donate blood by June 10 to support trauma patients, you can get a $5 Amazon.com gift card by email. Restrictions apply. See amazon.com/gc-legal for restrictions. Terms and conditions apply; visit rcblood.org/together

The blood drive is free and open to the public. Go online to redcrossblood.org to sign up and enter the sponsor code HamptonCity in the box next to “Find a Drive." If you have never signed in as a donor before, you can create an account by clicking on "Sign In" at the top of the page. Walk-ins are always welcome. You can also call 1-800-RED-CROSS.

In addition, consider making a Power Red donation instead of a regular donation to make an even greater impact. Go to redcrossblood.org/givemore for details.

Thank you for your consideration in helping us make a difference by sharing a life-saving gift.
