[ARCHIVED] There's still time for young people to sign up for stem camp sponsored by HRHA

May 27, 2019 - The Hampton Redevelopment and Housing Authority's 10-week Summer STEM Camp starts June 17 at the North Phoebus Community Center. Kids 6-12 who are interested in science, technology, engineering and math can still sign up for the camp. And, they can join a special kickoff event on Friday, June 14th featuring Cincinnati Bengals cornerback B.J. Webb and friends. 

A native of Newport News who attended Warwick High School, Hampton Roads Academy and the College of William and Mary, Webb will talk about the importance of education, STEM, and the dangers of gun violence. 

The summer camp kickoff is from 10 a.m.-1 p.m., and there is still room for a limited number of young people serviced by the Housing Authority to join in the fun. It's sponsored by the Feel Good Crew and President Cameron Almond. For more information call Michelle Barnes, education coordinator at the Authority, at 757-727-2691 or email mbarnes@hamptonrha.com. The North Phoebus Community Center is at 249 West Chamberlin Ave., Hampton.

At 7 p. m. on Friday, June 14, Webb will host the B.W. Webb Celebrity Basketball Game at Warwick High School. Tickets are available by calling 757-218-0939. And from 9 a.m.-3 p.m . on Saturday,  June 15, he will host the B.W. Webb Seven Cities Football Camp at the Hampton Roads Academy. For more information call 757-329-6073.
