[ARCHIVED] City manager's message to employees on a July 5th administrative day

Phoebus from Fort Monroe copy

May 24, 2019 - It's hard to believe that this weekend is Memorial Day, marking the unofficial start of the summer season. Before we know it, July will be here, which is the beginning of our new fiscal year. During that same week, the City will observe Independence Day on Thursday, July 4th. In addition, I am pleased to announce that we will also provide employees an extra administrative day off on July 5th. The Council and I are pleased to provide this extra day off so employees can enjoy an extra long weekend break with family and friends.  For those employees who must work, another day off will be provided to use at a later date in the year. Thank you for your continued efforts to provide the highest level of services to our residents!

I also pleased to announce that the City will again offer employees and their families a chance to enjoy a free Peninsula Pilots game. City employee night is next Thursday, May 30th. The Pilots will be playing the Holly Springs Salamanders. The first pitch will be at 7:05 p.m, and is usually preceded by a showtime an hour earlier. Please contact Donna Hodges, dlhodges@hampton.gov, in my office to request your tickets. We should have enough tickets for all who are interested, but they are "first come-first serve”. Please note that tickets will not be available for pick-up until next week. I hope you are able to enjoy this special event.

Thanks for all that you do! I hope you enjoy your Memorial Day weekend and the long weekend in July!
