[ARCHIVED] Hampton closings due to Dorian

Closings & Cancellations

Due to the forecast for tidal flooding, high winds and rain, the following closings have been announced:

  • All City of Hampton facilities and offices will be closed to the public on Friday, Sept. 6, and open only for essential emergency operations. Thursday hours remain normal.
  • No trash pickup on Friday, Sept. 6. Any bulk trash or bins should be removed from the curb after sunset on Thursday, Sept. 5. Anything at the curb could block storm drains and worsen flooding. Trash pickup will resume Saturday at 7 a.m., if conditions allow.
  • Hampton City Schools will be closed Friday, Sept. 6. No after-school extracurricular activities Thursday, but after-school School Age programs will be held.
  • Hampton Roads Transit will suspend bus, ferry, light rail, and paratransit services all day Friday.
  • Thomas Nelson Community College closed Friday, Sept. 6.
  • Fort Monroe Authority offices closed Friday, Sept. 6
