Sept. 10, 2019 - Clayton Turner, deputy director at the NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton since 2015, will become the center's director on Sept. 30, when current director David Bowles retires. In a news release Monday, NASA said Turner will lead more than 3,400 scientist, researchers, engineers and others working to make improvements to aviation, understanding the Earth's atmosphere and developing technology for space exploration.

“Clayton’s wide range of engineering and leadership experience will serve Langley and the agency well as our Artemis program works to send astronauts to the Moon by 2024 to prepare to go to Mars,” said NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine. “I also want to thank David for four decades of public service from Langley, where he addressed the challenges associated with space and air travel, as well as developing future aviation vehicles. His contributions to NASA and America are appreciated.” Read the complete news release online.
