Jan. 10 2020 - Hampton’s WorkOne Center and Hampton Roads Transit have joined forces to offer HRT DriveNOW, a training program for eligible Hampton residents that will let them earn a learner’s commercial driver’s license, a Career Readiness Certificate and customer service and workplace skills.

Residents who successfully complete the four-week DriveNow program will receive additional on-the-job training required to earn a commercial Class B license and start full-time employment at HRT as a bus operator trainee. The program is open to those who might have barriers to employment, including transportation issues. You can go online for more information from HRT on the program, employment, and DMV requirements.

For more information from Hampton – and to get an application – contact the Hampton WorkOne Center at 757-727-8311. Applications will be accepted through Feb. 14. Classes start at the Center, 1300 Thomas St., Suite C, on March 23 and will be held Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. -5 p.m.
