[ARCHIVED] City seeks suggestions on use of Community Development Block grant funds

April 23, 2020 - Hampton is seeking suggestions from citizens on the use of $587,909 in Community Development Block Grant money that will be used to prevent, prepare and respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. All submissions will be considered in light of how various city programs are used. Public comments can be submitted online; by emailing daniel.mccormick@hampton.gov; by mailing COVID-19 Grant Comments, Community Development Department, City of Hampton, 22 Lincoln St., Hampton, Va., 23669;  or by calling 757-727-6435. The public comment period runs through Friday, May 1.

The city is also seeking public comment on the Community Development Department’s Program Year 2020 Annual Action Plan for FY 2021. The plan is required by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for the receipt of Community Development Block Grant and HOME grant entitlement funds. The action plan, includes activities designed to address housing and community development needs, especially in low or moderate-income areas.
