[ARCHIVED] Virtual open house about plans for sewer pump upgrade in Phoebus

New Mallory pump station rendering

Nov 18, 2020 - The Hampton Roads Sanitation District is planning upgrades for Phoebus, including a new pump station.  The customary "open house" to acquaint residents of the area with the project will be held virtually this year due to the coronavirus.

The plan calls for the demolition of the current structures at 302 S. Willard Avenue and 214 and 218 Downes Street. The new pump station will be built at the corner of South Willard Avenue and Downes Street.

The existing pump station at the intersection of National Avenue, South Willard Avenue, and Segar Street will be demolished and returned to green space.

Also, about 4,000 feet of sewer line on South Mallory from National Avenue to East Kelly Avenue will be replaced, which will periodically affect traffic.
