[ARCHIVED] Assessor's annual report for 2015 available online

Oct. 1, 2014 – The city assessor’s Annual Report for Fiscal Year 2015 – which includes information on the value of Hampton real estate, new construction value, and Hampton’s top 10 taxpayers - is now available online at www.hampton.gov/assessor under "Quick Links."

The 27-page report provides a summary of efforts that lead up to the creation of the 2015 Land Book – a valuation of all property in the city except those parcels assessed by the State Corporation Commission.

To recognize the 50th anniversary of the Office of the Assessor of Real Estate, the report also includes a cover photo of a Hampton fast food restaurant constructed in 1964.

In the past three years the report has grown by about one-third as more information is added that may be useful to citizens and city departments. Worth noting:

*The Preliminary Land Book, given to City Council and the City manager on January15, 2014 provided the basis on which to project real estate tax revenue for the city manager’s proposed fiscal year 2015 budget.

*Residential properties represent 90% of all parcels in the city and 53% of the total value of the land book.

*The assessed value of taxable land in Hampton has grown from $6.81 billion in fiscal year 2005 to $10.39 billon in fiscal year 2015.
